First World Problems

I don’t understand some people. I don’t understand people who complain about not having the latest phone or a pair of expensive name-brand sunglasses, instead of being grateful that they have a roof over their head and a bed to sleep in every night. I don’t understand people who don’t take responsibility for their own actions and their own lives because they know that they can get someone else to do everything for them, instead of being grateful that they have a family at all. I don’t understand people who complain about the most minor stupid things such as the fact that they couldn’t save up enough money to buy that thing they really wanted because their parents expect them to pay for all their own living expenses, as if I’m going to feel sympathy for you. I don’t understand people who want to talk to me about the most shallow insignificant crap, like how drunk they were on Saturday night, as if I’m going to be impressed by their utter idiocy.

I don’t understand people who cannot look at the big picture because they’re too occupied in their own world which revolves around their insignificant stupid little problems. I don’t understand idiots who are so self involved that they go and spend all of their money on clothes, jewellery, shoes and perfume and then call their parents and ask for money to buy groceries. Are you that stupid that you cannot grasp the concept that money buys you food and if you spend it all on clothes then you won’t be able to buy food? Maybe if you weren’t a moron, you’d have money to buy groceries. Maybe your parents have done enough for you, maybe you’re an adult now and it’s time to actually stand on your own two feet, instead of being so stupid that you just think you are. I almost wish your parents hadn’t given you everything, so you could know what it means to struggle, then you might appreciate everything you have, which is a lot more than a lot of the rest of the world.

Be grateful that you are not a starving child in Africa who has to boil your own piss if you want something to drink. Be grateful that you were never imprisoned, tortured or persecuted because of the colour of your skin or what you believed in. Be grateful that your parents didn’t abuse you and your boyfriend never raped you. Be grateful that your parents never went bankrupt and lost their home or business and were able to provide you with a home to live in. Be grateful that you don’t live in a country where you will get stoned to death or have acid thrown in your face because the government thinks that women are the property of men. Be grateful that you don’t have to beg on the street for ten dollars to feed yourself. Be grateful that you have a place to shower and clean yourself. Be grateful that you have clothes on your back, instead of living in tattered dirty rags on the street unable to even shave your face or clip your toenails. Be grateful that you’re not dying of a disease for which there is no cure. Be grateful that you live in a country where you are allowed to go to school. Be grateful every day, because some idiots will always complain and never understand how fucking lucky they are.
